We invite you to participate in the Yom Hashoa memorial evening and hear the story of George Heimler.
This event is open to the community and will be specifically for Eitanim and Mishelanu.
George Heimler was born on February 9, 1938 in Budapest, Hungary.
Before the war, his family lived a comfortable life, as his father ran the family furniture manufacturing business.
During the Nazi occupation of Hungary, George was taken to Auschwitz with his parents, twin brother, and older sister in July, 1944. Miraculously, George, his mother, and his siblings survived the Holocaust and were able to return back to Budapest.
In 1956, George and his brother escaped during the Hungarian Revolution and immigrated to the United States.
George received a full scholarship to Harvard University through a youth refugee organization, and then began his career
Shortly after in aerospace engineering.
He settled in Los Angeles, California, where he met his wife, Nancy.
They have been married for 59 years and have two kids and three grandchildren.
He loves to play bridge and cook, and he has traveled all over the world.
George has been a pillar of strength for his family both in the United States and in Hungary. We hope his story will uplift you.
