This month speaker – Mr. Roger Weiss is a Tech Integration Lead in International Space Station, NASA.
He will tell us about Jews in Space.
Roger Weiss will tell us about the heroic Jewish men and women who have played a significant part in exploring space,
recognized their Judaism in unique ways, managed space programs and much more.
Roger Weiss is a Chicago native, that has proudly supported the phenomenal International Space Station (ISS) Program at NASA/Johnson
Space Center in Houston since his immigration to Texas in 2000.
As Technical Integration Lead with contractor Barrios Technology, he has long led an ISS Research
Client Service + Satisfaction Team that interviews scientists and engineers to collect feedback about their station research and development
experiences in working with NASA as quality assurance of relationships,
processes, and tools; he also monitors an ISS Client Helpline.
Throughout his NASA career that began in the late ‘80s, Roger has been recognized with several awards and commendations,
most recently, NASA’s prestigious Silver Snoopy Award (2023) and NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal (2017) for his long-term valued contributions to the program.
As part of the ISS Research Communications Team, Roger manages and curates myriad web pages for NASA.gov, namely the ISS Research and Technology websites, for which he received NASA’s Superior Achievement Award, and NASA’s Commercial Low-Earth Orbit Economy website.
